Jean Yves Antenor
Former Chairman Jean Yves Antenor died peacefully at Good Samaritan University Hospital on June 20, 2026, in West Islip, New York, at the age of 64.
Jean is survived by his mother, Marie-Gislaine Lafortune Antenor of Canada; his wife, Marie-Rose Jeannot Antenor; his children, grandchildren, and extended family, including Jude, Fabiola, Marclees, Churchill, Marksha, McKnees and Lourdes-Mia, as well as other beloved children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, including Ricot, Micheline, Mirna, Bernard, Frantz, and Anderson, along with other beloved siblings; and by his nieces and nephews, including Johanne, Réginald, Dora-Phédine, Darryl, Bendjy, Bendley, Medjine, Dariault, Isaac, Anne-Pascale, Samuel-André, and Anissa-Leyne, along with many other beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Jean was born on August 27, 1961, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He graduated from Farmingdale State College in 1989 with a degree in political science and aviation. In 1993, he married Marie, his high school sweetheart, who became a registered nurse. After moving to Long Island, New York, Jean served as chairman in Nassau County’s 2nd Congressional District and a dedicated employee of the Haitian Consulate in New York. He devoted much of his life to serving the Haitian -American community and was respected by many for his kindness, generosity, and commitment to others. He is remembered as a kind, gentle, patient, and driven father who encouraged his children to pursue their goals.
Jean was a generous, witty, and dedicated individual who loved politics and was passionate about educating others. He was also an active and devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church during his youth, from the ages of 12 to 19.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on July 7, 2026, hosted by New Leaf Crematiion at Macken Mortuary Inc., 52 Clinton Avenue, Rockville Centre, New York 11570. Pastor Jude Senatus will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jean’s life. The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan University Hospital for their care, dedication, and support.
