It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard "Richie" Mayrose, who left this world peacefully on August 10, 2025, after many years of heart complications and other health issues. Born on May 1, 1946, Richie lived a full life defined by love, kindness, and an undying affection for music and cinema.
First and foremost, Richie was a good man. His family and friends could always rely on Richie for a comforting presence and a supportive ear. His humble spirit and cool demeanor made him a very likeable guy to whomever he met.
Richie leaves behind a loving family to remember him always: his son Richard Mayrose & daughter-in-law Lisa Mayrose of New York, NY. His daughter, Tara Scarfone & son-in-law Richard Scarfone and granddaughter Gianna Scarfone of Indian Trail, NC.
Richie is also survived by his dear brother Kenneth Mayrose of Chapin, SC who was not only a brother but was also his cherished friend whom he spoke to every day. They worked together painting houses for over 40 years and Kenny will miss his younger brother until they meet again.
Riche was preceded in death by his parents Bill & Grace Mayrose, and his loving big brother Bill Mayrose. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will cherish his memory. His first cousin, John Papa, will miss him dearly, as they grew up in Brooklyn together, worked together years later, always kept in touch and was more like a brother to him.
A true music lover, Richie had an eclectic taste that ranged from rock to folk rock and country. Some of his favorite artists included Crosby, Stills & Nash, Neil Young, the Marshall Tucker Band, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Richie's passion for music was only matched by his love for film. Among his most cherished movies were 'In The Heat of The Night', 'Cool Hand Luke', 'Goodfellas', and numerous Westerns that he could watch time and time again. When not engrossed in music or movies, Richie loved to watch dragster car races. In his free moments, Richie often found joy in playing the harmonica, especially to his granddaughter when she was a little girl.
Richie's life was a symphony of small pleasures and large love. His passing leaves a void in our hearts, but his memory will continue to live on in each song, movie, and race that he loved so dearly. May he rest in peace.
Cremation was conducted according to his wishes. A memorial mass will be planned at a later date.
